Category 4 Hurricane Ida made direct landfall in Louisiana. Bands of heavy rain containing gusty winds are spreading from southeast Louisiana into Mississippi, Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle.
Rain, winds, and flooding will cause road closures and power outages impacting local post offices and mail delivery.
What We Know Now- Logistics & Post Offices
Trucking and rail companies are suspending service to impacted areas in order to protect the mail and as requested by the USPS. Deliveries will be rescheduled as conditions improve.
Mandatory evacuations have caused the temporary closure of many postal offices which will delay delivery.
